About

Hambone Designs came about as a result of a holiday gift policy between siblings Hernan (Santa Monica), Lisa Marie(San Francisco) and Alex (Santa Cruz): everything had to be hand-made. As they're all fond of biking, and accessories, Hernan decided to make a bag for his youngest brother Alex’s bike. Hernan wanted it to be a small bag, for carrying the daily essentials: keys, wallet, cell phone, etc. His creation, the Velopocket, turned out to be truly unique: no one in the market was making a bag that hung from the top tube of the frame. In addition, the leather bag was stylish, and convenient to access, hanging directly beneath the rider when on the bike. That Christmas day Alex’s gift was the envy of all, and when Lisa got a look at the design she declared that they had to make the bags for every bicyclist out there.
Within a few months of their inception, Hambone Designs was featured on the front page of the New York Times Business section, as well as many other media outlets. Their motivation is to provide a convient and fashionable way of carrying the things that travel with you most. Alex has even road tested the product, riding his bike from San Francisco to New York City in the Summer of 2009. Both he and the bag survived, one of them with a beard longer and a t-shirt two shades lighter.
All Hambone bags are handmade in California.
